A developer planned to build a modern six story apartment building in Coolidge Corner at the intersection of Harvard Street & Thorndike Street. However in a letter sent on July 8, Oak Hill’s managing member Ashkan Sanieoff told state officials the company would withdraw the application for a 40b, and instead will develop plans for a smaller building that complies with the four-story zoning guidelines for Harvard Street. “excellent location for a mixed income housing development and retail and our team looks forward to working with the town and neighborhood to craft a project under the new zoning”. Town meeting votes to ease restrictions on ADUs (also known as inlaw apartments). They were legalized in 2019 in Brookline and now people can enlarge them and build them quicker. One major change from Blood’s original proposal was the Town Meeting approved version would only allow “owner-occupants,” who live on their property to build ADUs, barring investors (or “absentee landlords”) from building the units.
